Research Wing of MESHAR
and Nirmalagiri College

Institute for Research in Social Sciences and Humanities (IRISH) is a collaborative Research Wing of Malabar Education Society for Human Resource Development and Research,(MESHAR, Reg. No.277/2000) and Nirmalagiri College, Kuthuparamba. The Institute was founded by the reputed historian of Maritime History of India, Dr. K.S. Mathew. It was inaugurated on 14 January 2002 by Dr. P.K. Rajan, the then Vice-Chancellor of Kannur University. The Institute received formal recognition of Kannur University as its research centre of History, Economics, and Malayalam  in 2004.

The Institute has been set up with the aim of bringing together scholars on a common platform to share the results of their researches through seminars, workshops, webinars, publication of monographs,  research journals and occasional papers. The institute endeavours to promote inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary researches in social sciences and humanities.
